As a child the beach rocks were tantalising but also held a sense of adventure to play upon. Often omitted from a beachscape I was drawn to this viewpoint as the texture, light and tone of the rocks brought back my early beachside memories. The composition leads your gaze to the distant jetty along the Brighton coastline. The movement of the clouds tells of the incoming weather and watching them over the water as I walk this beach as an adult is a daily ritual. This coastal location is where I now have returned to live with my family and has brings me much inspiration which in turn feeds back into my art practice. Seacliff to Brighton will always holds a place in my heart as my home beach and this painting celebrates that connection.
