Greer Provis was born in Sydney in 1981 and now resides in Adelaide working from her coastal studio. Working in acrylics on canvas, her signature realistic artistic style has been lovingly honed over many years.

Her introduction to painting at kindergarten sparked a joy for artistic creation that has never departed. Expressing her imaginings into a physical visual form mesmerized her immediately. This desire was noticed, nurtured and encouraged; subsequently flourishing throughout her primary and tertiary education. In fact it brought her a constant calming connection while attending numerous schools and moving interstate throughout her childhood. Creative expression was where she felt most naturally adept and there was never a doubt in her mind that this was what she would wholeheartedly pursue and grow into her adulthood.

Commencing her fine arts tertiary study at The Centre of the Arts University of Tasmania, she gained strong foundational artistic skills whilst building upon her natural ability - majoring in Graphic Design and Drawing. She subsequently explored her passion for shoes by furthering her studies in Shoe Design and Construction.

Greer’s working life began in the retail industry then moved into graphic design while she continued to pursue drawing in her spare time, entering her works into art shows and being accepted into the Australian Guild of Realist Artists. However, it wasn’t until 2019 when her husband and their two young sons embarked on a sea change from bustling Melbourne to a more relaxed coastal lifestyle in Adelaide that she was able to earnestly turn her focus to her new found love of painting. Enthusiastically setting up her studio art practice where she now dedicates her working time to creating her detailed works, drawing inspiration from her coastal location.

Capturing the beauty of nature in it’s purist form has been the longstanding inspiration for her works. Her fascination with beautiful flowers, patterned textiles and ceramics particularly in blue and white formed the catalyst for her journey into a world of painting blue and white still life works. Her gravitation towards a limited painting palette was a natural progression from her graphite drawings which focused on texture, light and shade in realistic detail. Greer’s still life paintings include many vessels and fabrics from her personal collection. She has lovingly curated these through her life and travels over years, adding story, diverse designs and memory to compliment her interior aesthetic but in turn add a richness and unique authenticity to her paintings.

Her works showcase a precise painting technique and high level of attention to detail reflect her meticulous nature. Calming cooler palette selections make her works unique and identifiable as her signature style.

Capturing beautiful details sensitively is in essence the core of her paintings and Greer enjoys the challenge of depicting complex form while invoking a calming mood to her choice of subjects. Although primarily a still life artist she is not restricted to this genre, with many of her commissioned works being landscapes that showcase a look through her broader lens at nature.

An award-winning artist, Greer is dedicated to her art practice and producing work of the highest quality and providing her collectors with pieces they will always cherish. Her art journey is ever evolving as time, experience and inspiration propel her forward to extend her skills and develop her artistic voice and share the joy she experiences through making her work.
